100 DAY WAR
100 DAY WAR
"The threat we face is one a lot of Americans don't fully comprehend or understand. This isn't a typical geo-political war. It's a war against an enemy that has no national borders or boundaries. It's a theological war. It's not politically correct to say that. It's just the truth. We are fighting people whose religious fanaticism will not be satisfied until every last one of us is dead, until our culture, our society, is completely obliterated from the face of the earth. It is the perfect marriage of religion and state, and that's why it is so incredibly dangerous, more so than any enemy we face. And here's the reality. War is about will. Whoever chooses to leave loses. We can't afford to lose, because this is not a war about Iraq, it's not a war about Afghanistan, it's a war about our survival as a civilization and as a people, and every effort must be made to defend this great country against it.
(Quote from Mike Huckabee on blog by Randy Alcorn)
Letter written to Christian blog writer who agreed with Mike Huckabee by the Accomplice:
This bothered me, too, when I read it awhile ago. I think that by saying this, by categorizing muslims as one instead of looking at each human being individually, Mike Huckabee is promoting a message of hate and prejudice.
It is ignorant to look at a people as one and to judge them as one. I believe wholeheartedly that we need to look at each people and each person as God does - that we need to look at the heart, each heart, and ask for His discernment and His Heart towards them. Christians can be treated the same way as they treat others, you know. What if they categorized us with Hitler, who once claimed to be Christian. How fair is that?
We need to love each redeemable person with God's Love for them. We need to be willing to lay down our lives at the Cross to bring His Truth to them and to show God's Heart to them as we are willing to do so for our closest friends. We were no prize to begin with - still aren't, actually.
I am sure that some muslims depart from the lies of their religion and from their religion, itself, seek the one true God and find Him - find the way to grace and redemption through Jesus Christ. I am sure that some muslims, even from Iraq or Iran, seek Truth. Isn't that more that we can say for most
so-called christians within the U.S?
There are peaceful muslims, there are hate-filled muslims, there are Truth seeking muslims who forsake religion to become true Christians, and there are lie-believing muslims who are very religious and "fanatical"- isn't it the same with people who claim to be Christian within the U.S? Don't we have that same mix of people within our churches?
Ask for God's Heart to see each person's heart. Don't settle for ignorance and sensationalism and religious ideals of worth to decide what you believe and who you love or judge. Don't present cheap, selective human love to the world when you can present God's Love.
Yes, love the children, the righteous, the persecuted - protect them! But don't forget His Love for the people like "Saul" of the New Testament. Love them, too. And don't promote a message of hate against them. It is necessary to hate evil if we are to Love Righteousness. We cannot love Righteousness UNLESS we hate evil. You know that. Also, know this: If we claim to be Christians we claim to have Jesus abiding in our hearts and we must be very careful how we act towards them as reflective of His Heart towards them. We are called to Love the people with His Love if we bear His Name, otherwise, we dishonor Him and promote a false depiction of His Character - of His grace and love, towards the people He hung for.
Let's stand for the right things, alone with Huckabee and the few others who do, but let's not stand for something said that doesn't match God's Heart.
Let's become Righteous as individuals and then as a nations so that we are protected by God as His own, rather than trying to defend ourselves by our own means and ignoring the reason God allowed us to be attacked by evil through people or evil people in the past. Like you said, Randy, let's be Christ-centered - let's focus on what He wants for us, like purity and righteousness, instead of being America-centered - focused on our own safety and happiness and peace. It IS a spiritual war that we must fight and that is waged against us - like the quote said, but the muslims and their religion are not the reason that we are being attacked. It is us, our hard hearts, our callousness, our hatred of Truth, our sin, our hypocrisy, our falseness, our lies, our religion that is to blame. If this nation, its people and leaders, would only get on their knees and pray Psalm 51 they'd be safe. It is useless to try to defend ourselves if we are not right with God. He is our only hope of surviving the war "as a civilization and as a people." Without Him, face it, we have no chance.
Psalm 124
Shalom, friend,
"Teach me your way, O LORD;
lead me in a straight path
because of my oppressors."
Psalm 27:11
May we react to oppression and attacks against us as the Psalmist did in this passage. May we allow God to purge us by whatever means necessary and may we submit quickly and repent fully so that the innocent are not sacrificed because of our sins and hypocrisy. May we be safe only then, when we are humble and pure and right with God and the innocent are safe, as well.
